My little boy turned 5 yesterday! My God has time just flown on by.....someone told me a long time ago that it would. Just didn't believe it until yesterday! We had a great day - I took the day off, we ate at Red Robin with my aunt Joni, Uncle Larry, and cousins Dann and Meg. Then we went to their place to swim and wear Ethan out a bit! Opened presents....came home. His "real" birthday party is this weekend so I decided to do the "ice cream w/candles trick". Scoop the ice cream, plop some candles in it, and light um up! It is just the same as candles in a cake to a 5 year old as long as they can make a wish and blow them out!
I wish I could slow down time and keep him 5 forever!
PS. Wow - I figure out how to post a picture! :)

Oh my goodness! I can't believe he's 5! I have an almost 6 year old and almost 7 year old! Time sure does fly! I nearly had a breakdown when Lauren turned 5. You can ask Emily. She saw me almost lose it. :)
Happy Birthday Ethan!!!
Haven't had the breakdown yet....but just wait....a year from now, when he starts kindergarten, you will read a blog that will explain the breakdown I'm having because I dropped my little guy off in to the "BIG" world! How pitiful! :)
Happy Birthday little dude. I can't believe he's five years old.
Holy smokes. Time zips doesn't it?
Heck, just a week (or two) ago, Sarah was five. And now....................?
Well, as I said, time zips.
Great day to all.
Yeah and we are "dropping" Haley off at Oregon State University on September 16th! Time crawls, then all of a sudden it's like, "Where the hell did the last 18 years go?
By the way, to make us even more cool, Jim and I will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary on Septmeber 3rd!
And one more thing...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ETHAN!
Love,
Great Aunt Sue (or Grant Sue) and Great Uncle Jim (or Gruncle Jim)
Holy crap... he's five! When did that happen - he was just a baby the last time I saw him.... but that was 4 years ago.... seriously we need to see you guys!!!
Tell him I said Happy birthday - sorry it's a bit late! To a five year old though it seems like he is still having his birthday....
Em - He's been having his birthday for a flippin week! Had lunch one day, party another day and he continues to get cards and gifts in the mail. By the time it stops, it'll be Christmas for goodness sakes! :)
Jim/Sue: Can't believe Haley is off to college! And happy belated wedding anniversary! My God - 30 years!!! And still smiling!!!
We are celebrating 11 years on the 13th....wow.....
