Life in the Fast Lane

I'm sitting here, trying to watch a movie but can't quite get in to it because I'm thinking of all the things going on this year! Here they go:

1) Trip to San Diego in March for a girlfriends baby shower - have known her since kindergarten

2) Ethan's 5 year well check March 20th - yes we are a few months behind - already mentioned in Sarah's blog that his last doctors office refused to see him so we had to switch doctors and all that fun stuff. This appointment will be extremely important. More to come.

3) Taking Ethan to see The Wiggles in concert on April 5th....we had taken a break from the Wiggles but he is extremely excited to see them. We have front row! Aunt Joni and Molly are going with him and I.

4) BON JOVI and DAUGHTRY concert April 11th. Taking my cousin Dann and two girlfriends from work! Plan is Strawberry Margaritas and dancing the night away! They get funner each time I go!!

5) Disneyland - Ethan's first trip on April 24th. John, Jess, Gina/Hank, Joni/Megan, Uncle Guy and us are all going the first day! Everyone is so excited to see Ethan's reaction to the happiest place on earth! Pictures to come. Oh and April 24th is KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP! Talk about not so good timing but we'll figure it out.

6) Huge trip to Redding end of July/beginning of August for my best friend and brothers (same person) wedding! I am so excited for him and can't wait to see him take the next step in life. Super excited about seeing all my extended family!! Woo hoo!!

7) And the biggest of all......my little boy has his first day of kindergarten August 4th. Yes, it is the Monday after my brothers wedding which kind of makes it a little rough to get him on a schedule the week before but I will certainly try. It is what it is and he is so excited anyhow that I doubt it will make much difference. I'm so nervous about him starting kindergarten but I think that is a common feeling for a parent.

I think that's it - do you think that is enough for this year? :) Besides trying to get all this in order, I've been worrying about the real estate market and my job and if they are going to lay us off. I've been told over and over that it is not going to happen but let me tell you this - the single family home builders are hurting horribly! It is so sad to see the biggest homebuilders at the top of their game slowly fall to the floor. I'm praying one day soon things turn around!

Enough - I'm off to bed! :)

The Loss

Well, as I'm sure you know by now, my Chargers lost today. Some times you have good days, others you have bad and today was a bad game day for my team. Four times in the RED ZONE and they couldn't score a touchdown is the reason we lost the game. How can you be in the RED ZONE four times and not get at least one touchdown?? Rivers was way off his game today. I think he pushed his injury too hard and they should have brought in Volek (his backup). Then LT wasn't in due to an injury, Gates was off his game due to an injury. It was just bad overall. My defense did fairly well, but offense just wasn't there. As disappointed and pissed off as I am that they didn't get one touchdown, I'm still a huge fan and can say I am EXTREMELY proud of how far they got! I look forward to next year....I can't believe football season is over.

Now, the question is, should I rent out my house for $20,000 for crazy super bowl goers who can't get a hotel room now??? Do I trust strangers in my house? Not too sure yet.......

Bye-Bye Colts

I was getting sick of hearing these so called "professionals" continue to repeat this morning that the Colts, hands down, were going to win this game. They gave credit to my special teams, but that's about it. I knew in my heart, we were going to win again; maybe not by a lot of points, but just knew it. Bye-bye Colts - see ya next year! Chargers - we are off to New England!! We need to get ourselves really prepared and healed for this game. Patriots are 17-0...scary but we can win them and we will! :) Hee hee!!

See ya at the game!!

Chargers Vs. Titans

Well, tomorrow is my big day! My team made it to the playoffs and our first game is tomorrow at 4:30pm. Still trying to figure out if that's Eastern or Pacific....anyhoo, I have a lot of confidence that my team will kick Tennessee's booty tomorrow and make it to the next round of the playoffs. I keep thinking, "Wouldn't it be awesome if my team made it all the way to the Super Bowl that just happens to be held here in Arizona?!" Then I freaked.....realizing how much the tickets would be to go to the Super Bowl here. Maybe if I rent out my house I could afford to go. But then I'd have to sleep in my car. Oh I can't win!

This post was supposed to be about the Chargers anyhow! GO TEAM GO! :)

I'll post the results tomorrow!

Oh, did anyone watch the Steelers game? How sad did they play!!! That didn't seem like a playoff team to me.

Good night! Root for the Chargers please!!!

New Years Resolutions

So, New's Year Eve is tomorrow and every year it makes me start thinking of resolutions and whether or not I should make one, two, or none. Everytime I make resolutions, I break them. This year I have opted not to make any "resolutions" but promises to myself to do a few things. They are as follows:

1) Lose the 30 pounds my doctor told me I needed to lose a few months back.
2) Spend as much time as possible with my son - he's growing up too fast.
3) Make a budget....school loan repayments start in April (YUCK)
4) Buy a really special gift for John and Jessica's wedding
5) Take at least two vacations, if not more, out of state (Planned so far: Redding in August for John's wedding and Disneyland in May). I would love to make it to Oregon (as I have been talking about it for years) and possibly Germany to see my friends
6) KEEP SMILING!!!

That's about it. I'd say those are some very important "promises" that I'm making to myself.

So, do you make resolutions? Do you stick to them or do you break them? What are they??

Happy 2008 to all! It IS going to be an awesome year!!

TURKEY! TURKEY! TURKEY!

I love Thanksgiving - it is my favorite holiday of all! Well besides my birthday. :)

I cook every year....there hasn't been one year in the last 8 I believe that I haven't made enough food for an army! Turkey, stuffing, smashers, veggies, rolls, pies, sweet potatos, etc, etc, etc. So this year we are traveling to Vegas to be with Eric's mom for Turkey Day. I haven't traveled somewhere else to cook before so it should be interesting. I have emailed her my shopping list so all I need to do is show up. We leave on Wednesday and will be back home on Sunday. The best part of this trip is John decided to fly down to Vegas on Wednesday to spend Turkey Day with us. He will leave Friday. I'm so excited because it's been 10 years at least since John and I have spent the holiday together!!! It's a short trip but he will be there nonetheless!! Yeah hoo!

What are you doing for Turkey Day? Are you cooking or are you the "invited" who shows up to eat?
Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

In Loving Memory

I just learned today that a dear lady, my friend and ex coworker, Brenda died of leukemia in August of this year. This lady was such a role model for me and a very dear friend of mine. Although she still lived in Vegas and I in Arizona, we would talk every couple months and catch up on life. She was a single mom, raising two teenage boys by herself. She worked a full time job and always had this beautiful smile on her face. When I learned the news today, I was actually calling to talk with her about my 401K that I still have sitting in Vegas. When I couldn't find her in the directory, I figured she had moved on from this job (as we all have) and found something more suited for her. I kept thinking, "Oh great....now I have to hunt her down." The deposit services rep, who I briefly knew before quiting, had to tell me the horrible news and poor thing, had to relive the whole story again. She was upset that I did not know and this was because no one had my contact information (bull, but okay). Brenda had battled breast cancer on and off for years but was in remission. She had found out in July of 07 that she had an aggressive form of leukemia and within a month, it had taken her life. I'm truly blessed to have known Brenda, but am feeling a little selfish right now and am very upset over her passing. God really needed this angel and I'm so thankful that she didn't have to suffer but a month. Please keep her family, her two sons and parents, in your thoughts and prayers. Keep me in those prayers too - I'm pretty devastated by this and this one will take a long time to cope with.

Lastly, tell everyone you love them cause my God, life is fragile and we all have no idea when it will be our turn. Never let a day go by without telling those if your life how much you do love them.
